Production Coating Specialties (PCS) has been coating, assembling and packaging the Ultimate Scraper since 2013. The Ultimate Scraper is designed and produced by Young Manufacturing, a family-owned manufacturer based in Grand Forks. In operation since 1947, they specialize in laser cutting, welding, tooling, fabrication and more. The Ultimate Scraper is one of several products that PCS handles for this manufacturer, and is perhaps the most unique.

Invented for use in clearing sidewalks during long, tough North Dakota winters, the Ultimate Scraper owes its effectiveness to its 12-inch flexible steel blade. It is able to break up large sheets of ice by powerfully chopping and nimbly sliding underneath to cleanly scrape away. Because of its ability to conform to surfaces, the blade is sharpened the more it is used. An extra long 60-inch handle and lightweight design helps prevent back or arm strain. Its bright red color allows the scraper to stand out in any corner of your garage.

Young Manufacturing ships their raw fabricated materials to PCS. We then coat the steel handle and blade bracket in a rich cherry red. Once cured, assembly can begin. The handles are laid out in customized jigs where the blades and brackets are then attached. Labels are applied, and the scrapers are packaged six to a custom-slotted cardboard box. Boxes are palletized and shrink wrapped before being sent off to a distribution center. PCS fulfills approximately 5000 pieces each year.

No surprise such a tool as this has multiple uses outside of ice removal. It can make light work of tearing up flooring or shingles, cleaning up mud and other dried or compacted materials, and many other tasks resourceful folks can dream up.
